Morne is a veteran coach with 30 years of playing and coaching experience at a high level around the world. His coaching achievements include mentoring and coaching many junior players who have achieved many successes at national, college, and professional levels. His playing achievements include junior, adult and college titles while in South Africa as well as national and international titles at ITF and ATP levels.
Morne was also a high-level distance runner with a best mile time of 4.05 minutes. He has competed in the world cross country championships as well as numerous multi day kayaking, Ironman triathlon and ultra marathon events placing in the top 1% of competitors. He is a college graduate with a B.A. degree (in human movement studies and exercise physiology) as well as an MBA degree.
Morne has been the Director of Tennis at Hobson Performance Tennis (HPT) in Lexington, South Carolina, a performance based tennis academy, with many sectional, National and college bound players.
Morne is firm believer that character and habits drive accomplishment, and, in addition to fun and friendship built up playing tennis, he stresses life skills to his players – discipline, commitment, sportsmanship, goal setting, accountability, integrity and being a positive influence to others.
Morne is married to Cheryl, a pharmacist, and has 2 children, Roy (18) a college bound tennis player, and Kirsten (14), a competitive swimmer.
